The Barbary Coast Boating Club is Northern California's LGBTQ+ boating community - a club for those interested in all aspects of on-water fun. Our goal is to provide a safe environment that fosters camaraderie, fun and the enjoyment of boating and other water activities in the company of the LGBTQ+ & LGBTQ+ friendly community.

Established in 1982, the Club has been serving boaters in Northern California for more than 44 years. We have members from all nine counties bordering San Francisco Bay and in many cities in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta & beyond. Our members share a love of the water.

Our fleet includes a wide variety of watercraft ranging from dinghies and ski boats to substantial motor and sailing yachts. We also have members who do not own boats, but share our love of the water. We offer water and land based social events each year on the Bay, in the Delta, and the California Coast with many of these events reachable by car.

In addition to social events, we publish an online newsletter, The Masthead, and have a members-only website & Facebook page to keep members informed about club business and past and future events.

BCBC is governed by an elected Steering Committee headed by the Commodore.

Monthly dinner meetings are held the first Thursday of every month except July and December at 6:00pm at the Encinal Yacht Club in Alameda. Sometimes the details of the meetings change so check out the Event Calendar or reach out to a member of the Steering Committee if interested.

Look for our distinctive blue and orange burgee and queer community flags proudly flying on our boats in the Bay and Delta and stop by to say hello. We are always happy to meet fellow LGBTQ+ boaters.

Visitors are always welcome! See Below for information on how to join.
